Digital Community Care
Our Mission
Research in the digital community care group is oriented towards central concepts of public health, conceptualizing digitalisation as a sociotechnical transformation process and access to digital tools as a social determinant of health: At the same time, we emphasise individual and collective agency in dealing with digitalisation.
Applying concepts from public health and health promotion, we explore interactions between digitalisation and ageing well, and the development of age-friendly communities and health and social care organisations, with a focus on rural areas. Our research approach is participatory, interdisciplinary / transdisciplinary and collaborative, with the aim of addressing societal challenges of direct concern to communities and decision-makers.
We involve actors with a variety of backgrounds, including researchers, citizens and older people, professionals from health promotion, public health, health and social care, developers of digital tools and related fields. In doing so, we strive to generate new scientific findings and benefits for the practice.
